Our Story

Co-owners Emily and Shelby met while working together and sharing an office at their day job. They bonded over their mutual love for baking and were inspired to open a baking company that served the Kodiak community. They started small by selling at the local farmers market, and eventually grew their operation to custom orders and catering.

The name Whale Island Baking Co. was inspired by a trip Emily and Shelby took with their friends to a few cabins on Whale Island, Kodiak, AK. It was a magical trip, and they wanted the memories from that trip to carry through into their business.
